Our laboratory focuses on the circuitry of the hippocampus and anatomically related regions. We use a combination of techniques, including large scale multielectrode recording, real-time signal processing and targeted optogenetic interventions and behavioral manipulations of awake, behaving animals to understand how the brain learns, remembers and decides. As a Fellow and Instructor there, he trained in Dr. Charles Sawyers' lab and the Genitourinary Service, performing sensitization screens and studying how oncogenic transcription factors give rise to prostate cancer. He joined the UCSF faculty and started the group in late 2018.
